James E. (Jim) Thompson, JD practiced law for over 26 years before
retiring. As a trial lawyer he tried well over 100 cases, both criminal and civil to a jury verdict in both
State and Federal Courts. While practicing law he was also a partner in a sport events marketing firm which
among other things took client’s customers to the Super Bowl, World Series Games, Masters Golf Tournaments
and many NASCAR events.
Teaching has always been a passion of his. After retiring and teaching at the High
School level, he founded the Midwest Consulting Group. Midwest works with Lawyers and other Small Business Owners
teaching them the tools they can use to successfully market their services and get the clients they need. One of
the programs he uses is the Get-Clients-Now program which teaches a system where his clients discover that by doing
10 simple things each day and doing them consistently they can get all the clients they will ever need.
Additionally he teaches workshops on getting more and better referrals, effective networking practices and other
subjects designed to help professionals and other small business owners better market their practice or
business. He is a regular guest on a radio program talking about marketing practices for lawyers.
Jim served his country as a Lt. in the Army from 1968- 1970. In Viet Nam in 1969 he
served as an Artillery Forward Observer and Advisor to ARVN (Vietnamese Army) Units. As a result of his actions in
combat he was awarded a Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Jim attended Miami University on a swimming scholarship lettering each year and was a
Mid America Conference Champion in his senior year.
